Can you really get teeth in a day? For many people, yes. With full arch implant treatment, many patients come in for their procedure and leave that same day with a new set of teeth. The key is that most of the planning happens before treatment day, so the day itself is focused on giving you your new smile.

“Same-day” doesn’t mean you walk in for the first time and walk out with new teeth. It means the big day, when your old teeth are removed and your new teeth are placed, happens in one visit. At Signature Smile Arts in Homewood, IL, Dr. Alex Shore offers full arch implant treatments designed around that kind of day.

What Does “Teeth in a Day” Really Mean?

“Teeth in a day” describes full arch treatment where implants are placed and a fixed set of teeth is attached in the same visit.

According to Nobel Biocare, the All-on-4® treatment concept is designed to give patients a fixed full-arch bridge on the day of surgery when they meet the criteria for this approach.

In plain terms, it means:

  • You don’t have to go without teeth after your procedure
  • Your new teeth are attached to implants, not resting on your gums
  • You don’t need denture adhesive
  • Most of the work happens on one treatment day

How Can Treatment Happen in One Day?

The secret is planning. By the time you reach treatment day, we already know exactly where each implant will go and what your new smile will look like.

Our full-arch process follows three steps.

Step 1: Consultation

We review your health history, take a 3D Cone Beam (CBCT) scan, and capture your teeth with our 3Shape TRIOS® digital scanner. No messy impressions needed. We also talk through your implant options and financing.

Step 2: Smile Design Visit

You’ll preview your new smile before treatment day. This is your chance to weigh in on the shape and look of your teeth.

Step 3: Procedure Date

Dr. Shore removes any remaining teeth that need to come out, treats infection, places your implants, and attaches your new teeth. You leave with new teeth the same day.

For patients who choose 3 on 6™ dental implants, you leave the same day with teeth on your implants.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Same-Day Teeth?

Not everyone qualifies, and that’s okay. Same-day teeth depend on how well your implants are anchored on treatment day.

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Are missing most of your teeth or have teeth that are failing
  • Wear dentures and are tired of them slipping
  • Have enough healthy jawbone to anchor the implants
  • Are in good overall health for oral surgery
  • Don’t smoke, or are willing to quit

If you’ve lost bone, you may still have options. Some full-arch approaches use angled implants to make the most of the bone you have. Every smile is different, so Dr. Shore will give you specific recommendations for your case after reviewing your 3D scans.

What Is Treatment Day Like?

Many people worry most about treatment day itself. Here’s what helps.

  • Sedation options: nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation are available. IV sedation is provided in our office by an outside anesthesiologist.
  • One doctor from start to finish: Dr. Shore places both the implants and your new teeth in our office.
  • Clear aftercare: Our team will send you home with instructions for eating, cleaning, and healing.

Some swelling and soreness are normal for a few days. Your implants keep healing and bonding with your jawbone over the following months, and we’ll see you for follow-up visits along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I eat normally right after getting teeth in a day?

Not right away. Your implants need time to heal, so you’ll start with soft foods and slowly work back to firmer foods. Our team will give you a clear eating plan, and Dr. Shore will let you know when it’s safe to move on for your case.

Is same-day teeth treatment done under sedation?

It can be. Many patients choose sedation to feel relaxed during treatment. We offer nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation provided in our office by an outside anesthesiologist.

Can I get teeth in a day on both my upper and lower arch?

Yes, many patients treat both arches. Some do both on the same day, while others treat one arch at a time. Dr. Shore will help you decide what makes sense for your mouth and your schedule.

Does insurance cover same-day full arch implants?

Coverage depends on your plan, so call our office at 708-799-5353 and our team will help you understand your benefits. We also offer financing through CareCredit®, Proceed Finance, Sunbit, AcceptCare, and Cherry, plus a flexible in-office payment plan.
